Casting kit

I will be trying my hand a casting this coming year. I have no idea where to start but saw a casting kit in Penn State's last catalogue. It was only $35-$40.00, What do you think? Also I think one of you more experienced casters should but together a casting kit complete with the pot and instructions. For now if anyone has seen the Penn State kit what do you think?
