Hi All

ive been turning pens as a result of a attempt to repair a wood workers fountain pen i purchased several years ago,, next thing you have a lathe and making pens n stuff for folks right?

im kinda quiet and don't post much but i have myself in a fix,, may be you can advise,

see i don't have a load of free time, and am resisting the urge to get in to casting, but i have these couple of xmas orders and i want the color and style just right,

from PSI, well now i need similar, hopefully from the guy who cast them 5 sets (razor, stand, brush / stopper and pen 20 pieces in all) in some pretty specific colors.
cash up front from me before production if required.

i am not trying to be cheep, or short cut, just deliver whats asked for rather than make what wont sell,

any suggestions leads etc, Ive asked PSI if they can pass on the query too, but early days yet

Not to throw a wet blanket on your enthusiasm but I learned early on NEVER buy form PSI. Darn that actually rhymes.

I do castings. Nothing like what is pictured but if I can help you through this let me know. May not be able to duplicate but maybe we can work something out.

Luke, those are not locally cast. The first vendor, that I know of, to stock those blanks was Ed from Exotic Blanks. He sold those before his website - there are other colors in that style. They were in his CATalog back in 2008. There was Leopard, Cheetah, Zebra, Ocelot... The Tiger was added later. I think they are imported from Europe.

Oops - it was 2007. Don't know if he still stocks them...

I buy from PSI among other vendors, when they have the items I need. I have not had any problems with them or their products that their customer service, over the phone, hasn't resolved. (I hope this doesn't turn into another "bash PSI thread.")

I have seen some of the animal skin blanks on some vendor sites but I can't remember which ones right now. (Old age, you know.)

I use PSI and others also depending on what i need, Shaving sets from them, most pens from EB or Breara etc, some from the locals though not so much now as the quality seams to be down,

i think i am out of the woods at the moment, but if i am stuck and i need some cast may be we can work some thing out,

the main thing i was looking for was solid colors and clean definition between the colors, i have some how been roped in to making shaving sets on foot ball team colors, for friends,

clearly the first team was the tigers ,,,,

I'd sure love to know who cast them,, PSI replied "can only supply what is in the catalog, no reference to contacting the supplier,,,,, oh well
