Carob was originally from the middle east, but there are quite a few in the US now, especially California. They make a substitute chocolate from the fruit of the carob tree. I purchased mine from Woodturningz.com.

It was fairly easy turning, did not give any problems.

I think BOW also sells Carob. I got some from them before.
