I'm getting ready to make my own carbide insert scraper (using the square inserts), and had a question from those who use or make this tool. Do you find it beneficial to mount the insert slightly downward to create a "negative rake", or mount it flat to the bar stock?

Thanks.

definitely flat.....I made mine out of 1/2" square key stock made to fit the 14 or 15 mm carbide blade. I then turned a round tang to fit the new Sorby micro aluminum handle. Works incredible and I didn't have to spend $100.
