I have a Vega duplicator that I use for roughing out blanks (it's pretty mind numbing)... I can wear out the little diamond shaped carbide cutter in a day.
I am trying to make a replacement tool that uses a larger carbide cutter (more like the hand held carbide insert tools sold for turning). I'd like to find a carbide insert (round or radiused) that has a small hole for mounting. The tool bit for my Vega is 5/16" square and the cutters I've found use about a 1/4" screw which wont leave much meat on the tool bit.
Anybody know of a carbide insert that uses a 1/8, or 3/16" or metric equivalent screw?
Suggestions?
Thanks
