Carbide inserts are on sale at MSC. Can someone help me unlock the code to the 4 alpha characters such that I can select the best cutters for hardwoods?

Hi DCBluesman,

These are the profile you need, sizes are up to you. I use from 12mm to 17mm
12 & 14mm for small stuff and 15 & 17mm for bigger stuff.

You may find easier to send them this pic, and they will know exactly the codes that match them.:biggrin:

Hope this helps

Cheers
George

Lou, you will probably not find much on MSC that will work well on wood, Tigra is the largest manufacturer for inserts with a 30 degree relief, but here is the ISO breakdown
1st letter is the shape
S=square
R=round
T= triangle

2nd is the degree of relief
d=15 degree
e=20 degree
f=25 degree
g=30 degree

3rd letter is the tolerance
4th is the hole/grove style.
