Thanks Randy for the push to update my lathe situation. Sorry, but no pictures.
I got in the new brushes from Penn State. When compared against the used brushes, there were very definite signs of wear. When I got in the used screw caps from Penn State, I slipped in the brushes, screwed in the screw caps, COVERED THE UPPER CAP WITH DUCT TAPE!!!!!, and I was back in business. The first pen off the lathe, now running at full speed, was a Churchill, wearing some of Ed4copies' purple celluloid. (Yes, Ed, I will get a picture of it.
)
Thanks to all of you for your concern and suggestions. Most of all, a big thanks for the tech support folks at Penn State for saving my rear and getting me back to turning.
