Not an unusual request for Dawn, but this time she hands me 17 blanks (I counted later) that are about 1.5" square and already tubed. These came from MasterScroller, probably years ago. But Dawn bought them, knowing anything Jeff makes is good, but now she wants to see what they look like--so "turn them down, Ed".

45 minutes later, we have 17 blanks!!! And a few shavings. And I had had a GREAT time!!!

Yes sir, those are beautiful. Very diffrent. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I always loved those wooden leaves blanks.

The new guys on IAP probably wonder why Jeff is "Masterscroller" tm.

When Jeff started making pen blanks, he was utilizing a scrollsaw--at the time he was an award-winning scroll saw artist. NOW, he does most of his work (the rotacrylics) with a CNC and multiple casting sessions.

My favorite of his blanks was the leaves. However, they WERE incredibly detailed, so they took a long time to make. Rotacrylics also take a LONG time to make, but Jeff can do other things while the CNC is cutting.

Evolution of the art!!!

Gee, Ed, how can you be sure there were only 17??? As I look at that pile of shavings, my first thought was that you could have lost a MFRB worth of blanks in the shavings pile and been clueless...

They do look fantastic!

"Messy" is an art form, Michael!!!

I enjoy watching the ribbons fly off and, as long as I can see the headstock, I am able to keep turning.

This is the type of job that really makes "turning between centers" logical, Just put one on, turn to about 3/4" diameter, stop, look to see if all the graphics are visible, take off and put the next one on. Nothing stays near the lathe, the pile of "to-dos" was behind me, in a tool box.

I think I took video of one===will see when I empty the camera.

When Dawn saw me, I was met with, "OMG, are YOU DIRTY!!"

(actually, they seemed like clean ribbons, to me)

Just a lot of fun watching the resin fly!!
