Can I fix this?

In my album, you'll find a picture of an amboyna pen. AFTER I put it together, I noticed that the area I had fixed while sanding had become 'unfixed'. It is about 1/2 way up the clip and under the clip. It is (I think) a small tear out.

Is there any way to fix this after the fact without taking the pen apart? Perhaps carefully with thin or thick CA?

I'm fairly new to pen turning/finishing so I'm seeking suggestions.

If it can't be fixed, it is probably a pen I'll keep anyway. Or I sell it at a discount. (Or I can tell the buyer that this is what makes this pen unique <grin>.)

Thanks in advance.

But isn't the top press fit into the tube?

And how do I fix it once I get it apart? (I told you I'm new with this. Sorry for the newby questions.)

Take apart and return the blank to the lathe. Either turn off the finish or sand off the finish to expose the bare wood. Fill void with amboyna dust and set with thin CA. Or with the lathe running slowly, hold 400 grit paper under the blank from the back side and apply light pressure. With your other hand, drizzle thin CA to create a slurry that will fill the void. Then finish sanding and apply finish.

The top is press fit. Many people learn to dis-assemble a pen as well as assemble them and along with this buy or acquire the necessary tools and knowledge to do this.

Dis-assembly: a few companies sell Disassembly tools, but Harbor Freight tool company sells a set of punches that most people use. Click on the link below to see them.

With a set of punches, you take the one that fits in just barely loose like. Hold the barrel of the pen with one hand and tap the punch lightly with a hammer until the other end pops off.
