I just made a blackwood with sapwood pen but the ca finish will not turn out right. it clumps up and creates streaks. I do it the same as I do on any other wood so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any advise?

African Blackwood is one of those woods with enough oils in the wood to disrupt a CA finish. Just wipe the blank down with Acetone or alcohol first, let the vapors dry off and your finish should be normal.

I had the same problem and bradh is correct. Love the wood, makes a great pen. keep at it:smile:

Acetone is OK, but stay away from alcohol. It contains water which may cause your CA to turn cloudy on the pen.
Another good item to use to remove oil and water from the blank is CA accelerator.
