CA finish build up?

Just started doing CA. Mega mega thanks to Michael Dresdner, Russ Fairfield, Fangar, Don Ward, and all those who have posted CA info on this wonderful forum.

My question is. After I build up my CA finish it "hangs" over the end of the Jr Gent. This creates an uneven transition where the metal end joins the wood. My first inclination is to sand. Is there a good way to do this? Or a better way?

I put a small piece of self adhesive 220 grit on the back end of my pen mill and use that to lightly sand away any CA that is proud of the blank. I'm sure there are other ways but this works for me.

That is about how I do it. I just have a quarter sheet of 600 grit I have by my bandsaw table (anything good and flat) and I lightly sand off the end to knock off the high points.

I use my pen mill. I turn it by hand.

Sanded...buffed...it fixed up great.

I use a diamond stone. A quick swipe takes off any CA flashing and also files the tube end flat. The second is not a problem for &gt;7mm tubes, but my 7mm pen mill tends to cut the wood a hair more than than the brass. The diamond stone is nice because I can easily feel when it has cut the brass flush.
