Today I sat at my lathe after putting this off for two days and decided I would try one more time. The dream of having a pen that is glass-like smooth has escaped me. I have read a lot of posts and got some great advice and knew I had to get this right.

I sat down and kept in mind what many said and it happened. I got this smooth clear high gloss shine I never have before. It isn't perfect but I know with more practice it soon will be like some of the pens I have seen on this site.
What did it for me was thin vs. medium Ca. Also I first put on laquer and let it dry over night. The thin went on smooth and I could tell right away it was different.

Thanks for all the advice. I gotta go make more pens. Again, thank you thank you thank you!!!!!

Hi,

the usual way of tanking people is to send a pen to the first person that answer your post[}:)]

Seriously, there is no better feeling than getting one of the technic done. Whatever it is turning, segmenting, finishing etc.. it's always fun to "get there" for the first time.

Alfred,

Just like my friends from Canada, they also like to get "Tanked": [:D]

Like others have said... Keep at the finish and then "I did it"...
