Bushings to large?

Hi,
I was going to try a new style pen today but when I checked the kits and the bushings I found the bushings to be .006 to large. I keep the fit on my pens between +.001 to +.003. Has anyone run into this problem before?....Thanks for the help...

I've got that exact problem with my cigar pen and Jr Gent bushings. In fact, that's what lead me to buy my digital vernier calipers!

Bushings are just a guide. Sometimes they are right on, sometimes not. I use a pair of calipers to do the final measurements.

I agree - bushings are just a nice guide. I also spent a few bucks at Harbor Freight and bought a nice digital caliper.

Hi All,
I am new at turning pens or anything for that matter. I just never have had bushings that are to large before. I guess I can deal with it... Thanks for the replys....

That's better than bushings that are too small. It's a lot easier to sand a little further than try to put some back on. []
