buffing wheels

anyone ever sewn up their own buffing wheels? if so, what type of cotton or flannel did you buy?

They are very inexpensive. I buy several at one time.

yeah, i know but i just get kicks out of making my own stuff. i was just curious to know if anyone has given it a go.

I doubt it. That is not something you are going to put together on your wife's Singer sewing machine.

just thought i'd let everyone know i decided to sew up some buffing wheels. i was having trouble justifying the shipping cost for buffing wheels. and i specifically needed some loose flannel wheels, which i couldn't find at the hardware store or harbor freight. so, i just used an existing wheel as a template, cut out the circles and sewed them together. i know wheels are cheap, but this makes it even cheaper if you have a sewing machine. it didn't even phase the machine. i did some 20 ply loose muslin and 20 ply loose flannel without too much trouble. i think i was out about 4 bucks in fabric and could easily make 2-3 wheels of each fabric.

just a singer. i think the model is 4205. i was a little leary at first also, but it actually went fine.
