Buckeye burl sierra pen

This sierra pen is part of a set of seven I posted earlier.
The grain is beautiful but tricky to photograph so it show up right.
This is my attempt at it.

Very nice looking pen and the blank is beautiful. However, it is very difficult to see the details of the pen with the shell behind it. The pen is beautiful enough on its own, the shell is very distracting.

I agree with Joe, a plain background is a must with this blank, beautiful pen though![]

Nice pen. I agree about the shell in the background, although it does bring out some cool colors in the grain.

I was not going to say anything as I hate to be negative or jump on bandwagons, but the shell colors and pattern are too close to the Buckeye. When photographing your pens you need to look for a contrasting background that will accent the wood, not something that the wood blends into. With that being said when I block out the shell the Buckeye has some great color to it.
