I was working on my entry for the penmakerss challenge when My Jet Lathe went from a multi speed to a 1 speed Lathe. 400 rpm... as the speed control assymbly went out...so I guess I am out of commission for awhile. ARRRRRRRRRRGH!

NO.....NO.....NO!!!!!

The VS motors are DC motors and will most certainly be seriously damaged by exposure to 120V AC.

Tough luck. :(:( I hope you have a JET repair center close by. A controller problem is unlikely to be something the average hobbyist can deal with. Probably going to be an expensive fix even if it is something simple. Worst case need to replace the board will be a very painful. One reason I went with the manual model one less thing to go wrong....and a very expensive thing at that.

Fortunately, it seems to be a rare problem in the USA. This is the first case I remember being reported.

it seems that is its a Mechanical problem not and electircal one. Past of the Alum Casting of the pulley system broke and needs replacement, its a Jet 14 x 42 and not the switch! will keep ya posted....and the pen would have won the challenge!!!!

I might Have a back Up pen....I still have a few hours....Lathe is still in warranty...1 more year so I have my contacts at woodcraft working on Jet as we speak....needs about 100 in parts
