I was working in my shop yesterday and was setting up a blank for between the center turning. I had the head stock set, and the tail stock set, when I tried to tighten the tail stock adjustment knob, the thing would NOT move....I took the whole tail stock apart, thinking that it needed cleaning and lube (I haven't done anything like it since I took it out of the box in January). When I took the knob out and unscrewed the tailstock assembly, I noticed the threaded end was busted! I've included a pic of the pieces...

So..NOW I have to get the serial number and part number and call Woodstock international and hopefully they will send me a replacement part. I have NO clue if this thing has a warranty or not. It should! Less than a year and it's busted!?!?

No turning until I get this fixed....at least I have a scroll saw, maybe I can whip up some crosses or something....

Wish me luck...

I think you have the same lathe I do. The w1704 Shop Fox?

Warranty is listed in the manual here:
http://pics.woodstockint.com/manuals/w1704_m.pdf

The warranty may be different now with machines being sold vs when Woodstck posted the manual. Good luck with the fix. I have found it to be a great lathe for the price ($90 new when I bought it about three years ago)

Just a little update. I called Woodstock International today and gave them all the required info...they are sending the part out and I should have it in 3-5 business days. It was still under warranty!

Kudos Woodstock Intl.!!

My first lathe was the same. Still have it and Woodstock was great for warranty. 3 motors and boards, bearings. Wore that little bugger out!
