The other day Fish30114 was asking about branding irons, light bulb clicked in my head and thought lets try to make one.

Didn't have any logo or original Ideas to use.
So i used the IAP logo.
Had to modify it a Little to make it work, since me and cnc programing are still a work in process.

The aluminum measure 2" x 1.5"
logo is about 1.9" x 1"

used a torch heated for about 1 min and this was the first try.

Every time i use the mill i learn something new.

thanks for looking
John

Can't make them to sell, copyright reason.

I was surprised how well it turned out. This was the second attempt.
Had some issues with the first one and corrected it with the second version.

Those are very nice! I like the IAP one that does not have any shadows, look much crisper. I think you may have just stumbled on a new revenue source for yourself if you can do it at a reasonable price and still make a profit. I had one made a few years back and it was not cheap. I know Rockler sells them too. For guys like me who do a lot of flat work, they are a nice touch to add to the finished product.
Cheers
Bob

The Iap took about 1.5 hrs to do .050 deep
and the Handcrafted one took about 35 mins to do .015 deep

bobleibo how tall are your letters on your Iron?

You might want to tweak the spacing on the letters in the second iron. Move the ones apart that are blurred together in the burned image. Depending on what app you're using to lay out the letters, it can be very easy to fine tune spacing like that....

I also like the look of the 1st one without the shadow effect.

Since this is CNC, you might try making a brass medallion that can be imbedded into the bottom of bowls. I have a friend who bought some for his bowls. Plus if could be repeat business.

Very cool John--I agree with the others who say do something to get separation in the letters on the second brand--perhaps the letters need to be a little 'talller' of course I have no idea what I'm talking about!!!

I also think the medallions are a really cool idea--my desire would be to see how small you can do them--if it is easiest to make them round, I would be shooting for 1/4" or smaller--so one could put them on a pen!! I don't know how small forstner bits get but it would be cool to just touch you pen blank with the right bit-forstner or otherwise and glue a medallion right in there--might even offer then in different platings to match the pen kit fixtures plating.

Keep us posted--very nice work!

That's cool. I had one made for me a while back, I use it on most of my flatwork. I noticed they used a tapered bit to make thinner points on the lettering for a cleaner burn. Just a thought.

What CNC are you using for this?
