Hi all,I'd like to get a couple of really figured BOW blanks.

On the back cover of the latest PSI catalog, they say they have "exibition
grade" BOW,but the price is about the same as the others.

I've gotten burned lately buying blanks lately that look great on the outside, but it's like a veneer,so when I turn them down they are dull & boring.

I thought I'd ask here for anybody can recommend the ones on the inside back cover of the PSI catalog,or maybe another vendor,or someone here has some to sell?

Thanks for any recommendations!

Steve

Yea this is a tuff one. What I do when I look at a blank is check all sides and try to follow the grain through the side grain. More or less if it is on top and bottom you can guarantee it is in the center. If it is on top but not the bottom you may be able to look at the side grain and see where it ends. If not it is a gamble. Maybe you could post them between centers and turn them round before bothering w. drilling to see hoe it may look

Anything figured has the same problems.

I have always been pretty good at "seeing through" acrylic blanks, too. But, once in a while someone calls me to say the inside was "not much". As far as I know, there isn't any way to be certain what you will get.
