Now that I've finally found some spare time (though its limited with the birth of our newest kid) I remembered a few pens I saw a few years back made if bog woods.

I've looked online some and don't know where is a good place but I would rather give some business to the members here than an unknown.

That said I'm looking for a few bog wood blanks or pieces. More than just oak if possible and more than one origin if possible.

If you are a seller or know of when let me know and I'll discuss buying a few pieces/blanks.

Thanks and happy turning!

At the moment all I have is Bog Oak. I have some Bog Yew but it takes longer to dry and is more prone to checking and cracking. I checked a couple of minutes ago but I'd be afraid of selling some if it wasn't fully dry. Bog Yew and Bog Oak are the only common bog woods. You can get bog pine but it is very soft. I have a nice block of bog oak that i'll be using soon for a large jewellery box.
I sent a member some quartersawn pieces a while back, he is going to post a photo of them used for pistol grips.

Keith, understood and appreciated. That's one of the reasons I really haven't gotten into selling many of my pens. Not of a quality that I am confident of get. I'd love to see those pistol grips. I'd love to make a nice set for my wife.

I have Oak (small bit of Irish and lots of UK), Yew, and Pine (needs to be cut up).

Mike, I think I've done some business with you before. About 3 years ago or so. Do you have a website? Of course after I type this in my phone I'm going to figure out how to search for it in this forum in this new app.

Also any tips or threads with tips for working this wood are appreciated. I will look them up but not until I have a few extra minutes and we are back home with all the kids.

Actually I think I remember seeing you shut your site and now go through... Is it exotic blanks?

yep, I shut down my site. I do have some stuff with Dawn at exotics, but I also have some stuff in my shop. And since I'm not really making pens too much any more, I can let some of it go.
