Blue PVC Pencil

As I was leaving the plant, the gentleman asked me what I would charge him to make him a pencil out of the piece of pipe, and of course I was glad to respond and say that i would be glad to make him one. So here is his own pvc pencil.

how do you drill a hole that long .

I have a long 7mm wood bit. And I drill em on the lathe. Place the drill bit in one chuck and put the chuck in the spindle end of the lathe, then hold the blank with a pair of vice grips and using your dead center, push the blank into the drill bit, make sure you have the centers marked on the blank, this way you can drill straight through the blank. Be sure to slow down your lathe. I also place a piece of tape on the lathe bed to know where to stop pushing the bit as to not hit the drill bit. Then finish pushing the blank through the drill bit with your pliers in hand. If you need extra help give me a buzz.
