Blowing Dust.........Can't stop!

I can not stop clearing any wood chips or dust around a drilled hole. Even if there are many holes to drill in the same piece.

I still blow away dust and chips on the lathe with my face shield still on. And yes, sometimes I spit a little too. And then make a mess inside the clear visor trying to clean that up.

But today was the worst.

I was re-reading Barry Gross's penturning book again, and was studying the wonderful pictures, step-by-step, and the next picture showed a piece with shavings and dust and I tried to blow it all away. In the photograph.

I'm pretty sure there is a term for behavior like that but maybe I'm better off not knowing it.

Your story brought a smile to my face. I find myself doing the same thing while wearing my powered, full face shield. As an aside, I also tie flies as a hobby and to support my fly fishing "habit". I often use a six inch lighted magnifier when I tie. A while back I was using a battery powered cauterizer to burn out a stray feather near the eye of the hook. The head cement had not dried and the entire fly caught fire. I started blowing and spitting all at the same time trying to save that fly. Of course I was behind the magnifier so the fly was a total loss and the magnifier needed a good cleaning. No great loss and it gives me a good chuckle when I think how stupid I must have looked trying to save that fly.

Man, I wish you had a video of that. Good thing you weren't doing a tying demonstration somewhere!
Wish I were there!! :)
 
Hey, think about the first time a dental student works on a "live" patient as opposed to an extracted tooth. :eek: I doubt it is as effective as blowing in someone's ear! :biggrin:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this.:eek:.. then always look around to make sure no one is looking.

The spitting and sneezing is the worst... :biggrin::biggrin:
