Can BLO be used under a lacquer finish to help pop or highlight the grain? Or will it interfere with the lacquer's ability to adhere and/or dry on the pen?

Thanks,

I have used it many times with no problems. If it is on a flat work project be sure to let it cure a while before applying lacquer. On the lathe I dry it with the heat generated by polishing with a cloth at hi speed.

Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil does a really nice job in that regard also. If you want to take the time and apply multiple coats you don't need any other finish, but it takes about a week to do it right since each coat takes longer to dry than the previous one.

Thanks for the info guys! I want to try out a lacquer finish, and plan on using some "plain" wood, and hoped I could jazz it up a bit with the BLO. Looks like I have a project now for this week or weekend. [:D]

Cheers,
