Blast From the Past!

I stumbled across an old thumb drive and on it was a file with some photos from the 2009 Midwest Penturning Gathering. I have attached a couple of them. Blast from the past!

Good photos. Seems like a good number of pen turners in the Midwest. Where was the meeting held?
Is there a similar group in the Southeast?

This event started in 2007 in Champaign-Urbana Il. It is still being held today up in the Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates IL area in April. At least a couple hundred in attendance. This is the original event of it's kind and there have been several over the years around the Country. Not sure what is happening these days in the SE but there is the Mid Ohio Valley Pen Turners Gathering coming up at the end of September in Marietta Ohio. Nothing close to you these days.

I think I missed the third year - that looks like about 2010. It has come a long way from the old Parks building in 2007. You and Terrance started one of my all-time favorite events, and I thank you again for that!

Thanks for the memories Greg. I recognize myself and a few others in the audience. That was a good experience. You organized oversaw a good and meaningful event.

Now I'm closing in on 20 years of pen making and selling at Art Shows. We've done almost 400 shows in 22 states, made and sold tens of thousands of pens, worn out three lathes and a couple show vehicles. Still have a lot to learn. I haven't attended an MPG in several years, busy attending art shows and selling pens for most years in the middle of April.
