blank pic preperation

Could I get some input on how you guys are taking pics of your blanks for sale? This is in referance to making the grain really stand out. I know how to push button on camera But not much past that.

Some guys just lay them on a scanner bed. You can try sanding one side and wetting to bring out grain. Decent lighting is important. Using a tripod and the 'self-timer' can produce sharper images than shaky hand-held shots.
