I haven't done my homework as to ID and OD but wondering if anyone here has made a blank from copper tubing from the hardware store? If so, what were some things you encountered as weight, etc.? I was looking at Don Ward's book on Slimlines where he uses a certain size aluminum arrow for pens.
Thanks to all who reply.

I was wondering the same thing but still ended up ordering from Ed at Exotic. I'm thinking they are the ones that Amazon sells that are the .2mm wall thickness.

I think that you will find that the wall thickness on copper tubing is too thin to make it useful. I have used aluminum tubing from a "big box" store. It had 1/2" OD and about 1/16" wall thickness. I used it with Gatsby style components.

Copper tuning will definetly have to thin off wall stock. If you really want copper body components you should look at solid bar stock and drill it out. Now this is better done in a metal lathe, it can be done on a wood lathe. If i were trying this i would verify runout at the far end, away from the head stock, and make sure to choose a rod diameter that would allow me to drill the through holes then turn the outside concentrically. Hope this helps.
