I took these shots from my front porch this morning. Love it in the spring when they show up with their fawns.

Too cool. That's gonna be one of the criteria for my next property. 15+ acres and hopefully lots of deer visits. Not huge on hunting, just like having critters like that around.

I hunt deer... however I can also see the beauty of having them visit... you all know.. get a salt lick and some added extra treats.. you will have loads of wild life that you want around... and you can also get a hidden camera that takes photos of everyone that visits even in the night...

nice photos.

Before you do however, check with your Department of Natural Resources or Fish and Wildlife people to see if you can..
In Michigan, it would be considered "Baiting" and that is a major no no, Now. Thanks to a Deer farm that brought in a Deer with Chronic Wasting Disease...:at-wits-end:

How hard DEC works to enforce the "no baiting" depends on where you are. I lived in dairy country in an area where overpopulation of the deer herd was a problem and DEC wanted to see as many as possible taken each year. They didn't look too hard to find salt licks and other things set out to attract deer. I also think (but wouldn't bet the farm) that baiting was only prohibited for a certain time of the year, and only in places where shooting was allowed. I knew a couple who fed deer horse feed all year long but they were surrounded by about 1000 acres of no hunting or shooting.

yeah sorry .. forgot the laws regarding baiting... I was not suggesting you actually shoot them with a firearm for one second.. just a camera... which is legal.. anyway always check with state and forestry laws and regulations. in england you can do it all day long ... just have a specific hunting time for shooting them.. baiting is frowned upon!
