Black Satin?

Any idea where I can get a black satin pen blank?

Looks like a fine sand blast finish maybe?
Most likely a molded pen with the texture from the mold.

Use a regular black acrylic and stop polishing before you get to the high shine grits. May take some trys but they do not make a specific dull blank. It is the finish.

I polish as normal with MicroMesh, then use 0000 steel wool for the satin finish.

Too bad there isn't a semi-gloss or satin black blank available. Try saying black blank 10 times fast! LOL.

Your steel wool finish looks good though. I'll have to give that a try.

Even if there was, it wouldn't matter. The final look of the blank depends on how you finish it, not how it looks before turning. In fact, most acrylic blanks that I turn are shiny on two sides and dull on two sides. They're dull where they're cut. You can see it in these photos.

A little late but I did one in black and used a soda blaster to dull it down before assembling.
