I started feeding the birds in my yard a couple months ago and it's quite entertaining. I have no idea what most of the birds are, but I enjoy watching them, seeing what they like to eat, watching the pecking orders. I never knew I had so many woodpeckers. I have two kinds, one is kinda rusty with a red head and most of them are black and white and one of the black/white ones has a red spot on his head. He is the most dominant bird out there. He'll take on anything that comes by. The Blue Jays are the next in like for aggressiveness. The little black birds with white stripes on their heads, I think they are finches, those are just fearless. One of those birds comes and taps the window if the feeder is empty! Yea..I never knew the birds could be entertaining. I wonder where they go at night.

The black and white ones with the red on their head are probably either downy or hairy woodpeckers. They look the same but the downy is smaller. We get them all the time in Kentucky. They love the suet.

i had a feeder up for a while at my property but the cat thought it meant i was baiting the feild for him and he would bring me the birds..... felt bad so i took it down, you do see some neat looking birds though!

Keep watching them Jeff. It might give you an idea for a new scrollsaw masterpiece or at least one of you blank designs!

I agree, this was my first thought upon reading this too!!! Some sort of bird blanks! Around here, the mockingbirds are more aggressive than others. We do have the occasional blue jay or the cardinal too. Very few woodpeckers though. The ones around here have red heads with black and white spotted bodies.
