I listed last week in the show your pens section I mentioned about displaying and selling my pens were I work. This afternoon I got a call from a gentleman who said he wanted to buy some of my pens. So I asked which ones and said I would pull them out after work at night and we could get together the next day. He said no, I'm standing here now looking at them and he had a flight to catch in 4 hours. So I said I'll be right down to meet you. He bought the emperor fountain pens I had on display and ordered more :biggrin::biggrin: We sat and talked for an hour or so while he inked and tried every pen he bought. This guy knows fountain pens. Then he pulls out his fountain pen to show me :eek::eek::eek::eek:
A MontBlanc "Pope Julius II special version limited to 888 made. Solid 18k gold with diamonds and rubys. 18k gold nib. He said he paid $10,000.00 for this pen. Then he went to pay me (which I was wondering how he was going to pay) and starts pulling out all these hundred dollar bills to pay me. He asks, "is cash okay" So we exchanged e-mails so we can keep in touch as I make more Emperors for him to look at. He really liked the amboyna burl I used on some of the pens.

Needless to say when I got home I looked that MontBlanc pen up and did find it on their site, but no price.

Pens have only been on display 8 days and sold a bunch. I think I am on to something here :biggrin::biggrin: Just had to share the great day I had with someone or anyone who would listen. My wife says I'm getting a big head !!!!

Thanks for listening, Keith "mrburls"

Wow that was some nice sale, did he let you try his Mont Blanc, I've sen pictures of them but to actually see one up close and personal would be amazing, the engraving on the nib is beautiful.

When ever you get a collector hooked you've also made a friend, I have a couple that we keep in contact by e-mail and phone and you will find your e-mailing him photos of you best of the best, congratulations.

Congrats Keith. any word on the Quality of the Emperor from a collector. I have been wondering how the kits would appear to a collector.

Lupe, When he started filling first pen with ink (which he carries his own ink bottle with him) his wife said "aren't you giving these as gifts" and he replied these are going to be mine. I'll have more made. He kept commenting on what great work I do. He mentioned how Montblanc makes a resin pen for about $1,000.00 and my pens are just as nice for a fraction of the price. He really likes my wood burl pens with a CA finish. I have a good feeling about this guy and more pen sales with him. One good thing is his main residents is here in San Antonio. He travels all over the world with his goverment job. He also mentioned to me he has alot of friends who also collect pens and would be showing his new pens to them:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

He was showing me another MontBlanc pen pictured on his phone he would like to buy, when his wife said " I don't know about that"
20 some thousand dollars :eek::eek::eek: It was a neat pen with a clear body that you could see the ink inside with some lacy metal work around it.

It's just been a cool day, Keith "mrburls"

Howdy Keith,

Wow, that's a heck of a deal you got going, my friend...! I don't thing I feel so sorry about you any more...! after you latest expense...!

When someone don't have much money, four or five hundred dollars, is a heck of a lot of money, mainly if it is "outgoing", reading your thread of your latest "shiny star" appearance, I reckon you are into the good money. Keeping "those" type people interested can be a challenge after a while but, you seem to have picked a good time to "shop" down under, you should get a "few" interesting, rare, unique and unseen "winners" from within your shopping spree so, good for you my friend, good for you...!

Best of luck!

Cheers
George

Thank you George, This really caught me of guard today. When the phone rang today I was out in the shop going through things and figured I check the mesage later. Then my wife comes out and says I think you want to check this message.
I'm hoping he might like some of your Australian olive root "gems" heading my way in the U.S.A. I should have plenty to choose from

Emperor Pen

That is pretty cool I have ran into a few customers that collect pens but not of that caliber. Congrats. I think that that could be the start of something amazing, I have been looking into the emperor pen to see if it would be worth it I think that that proves it.

Congrats on the sales. Sounds like this guy could really put you to work! You gotta love when they give them out to friends. Not sure if you do, but you might want to get some individual boxes to put them in with your business card inside. It could lead to other clients.
