big castings? Cultured marble?

I wanna turn a lamp for my wife, but I want a big chunk of.... rock looking stuff for one part of it.

How big can some of these castings be? Can one be made 8 inches x 6 inches?

Has anyone ever tried casting/turning cultured marble?
