I lost my best friend of 12 years today.
He was able to tree bears in my back yard. Hunt rabbit and birds.
He greeted me when I walked in the door whenever I came home, be it noon, or 2 in the morning.
Could not have asked for a better friend and dog.

Sorry to hear that, Jerry.

We sure form attachments with our pets --- nothing like unconditional acceptance!!!!

Time for a puppy??

Sorry to hear that Jerry. I think I still miss every dog I have ever had as a friend, so I know how hard it can be. Hope he went peacefully, and you have many great memories...

Jerry, sorry to hear you lost such a close friend. I, too have suffered such a loss on several occasions. It's can be as bad as loosing any other close friend or family member. But life must go on.

So sorry for your loss Jerry. Lost one a few months ago @ the age of 14. Mom & I were basket cases for a while. Had her cremated and made an urn out of wood. Hang in there and get another one soon. It helps.

The best and worst that I can say is SORRY!

I hurt for you.... I am looking at my Ladybird with her head on my leg.

Sad!

Sorry to hear this Jerry. I know it's very hard to lose a pet. They are very much a part of our families. I hope the memories overcome the pain you feel.

Being on the first dog I've ever raised from a puppy, I don't want to ponder how tough that's going to be sooner or later. I'm sorry for your loss, and hopefully time will do its job for you.

Jerry, I'm very sorry for your loss. We get very attached to our animals, also.

PenDawg1 is my best friend, and I hope that someday I become as good a person as she already thinks I am.

I wish there were better words than "I'm sorry".

Sorry for your loss my friend.

He is in a Better place, Old age is hard, I think its perticularly harder for animals they dont understand they're old.......

I feel your pain, Jerry. I've been a K9 officer for 17 years and, as life will have it, I have a couple of my best friends in urns on the mantel. I figure the wife can toss them into the casket with me, since none of us gets out alive. Right there by my side, where they belong.

So mourn your friend, he deserves no less, and always remember to raise a toast to those fallen comrades who've gone before.

Sorry to hear that. We just got a puppy almost 9 months ago. She will be a year in Feb. We already know that she will be a great dog.

A good dog is hard to come by.

I'm sorry to hear that Jerry. You're right to remember the good times, you'll always have those. That was one lucky dog, having you as a friend!

Scott.

Sorry to hear of your loss Jerry - been there and it's a tough place to go. Nothing like a good dog at your side. You'll meet again one day running through fields of flowers by the rainbow bridge . . .

Mrs.

I know what it is like to lose a friend like that. a loyal companion is hard to find. dogs are truly mans best friend............

I so sorry to hear of your loss. Unfortunately my best friend, a 12 year old rottie/shepard mix died a few weeks ago so I know your pain. She was always by my side. Her favorite toys are still lying around the house, haven't been able to get rid of them yet. Your friend was lucky to have a loving home.

Everytime I read one of these stories it brings tears to my eyes. I still have a few years left with my best friend and I am already dreading the day I have to post a similar message. It will be tuff. Sorry for your loss. I assume only time can help heal to some degree.
