Does anyone have any size information on a replacement belt for a Grizzly mini-lathe model # G5967 or where to get one?

Is it a V-Belt? I would try an Auto part store or you can get a link belt from Harbor Freight for cheap. If it is ribbed the link Monty had looks like a great one. I know I got my belts for my griz metal lathe for a fraction of Grizzly's cost online but it has different belts.

Take a piece of string and wrap it around the pulleys, tape it together and remove it. Take it to the Auto parts store and see if you can match it up. This is assuming it is a Vbelt, If it was a vbelt it should be easy to find locally.

yes it is a V-belt...maybe .157 x 16.929 or 5/32 x 17 ???

I would get one of these if you have a HF near by. I put one on my old lathe w/ a VBelt and it really made a difference for the better by removing vibration. Woodcraft also has them but the HF worked fine for me. You may even be able to get 2-3 belts from the 5' piece.

An old post on the Sawmill Creek forum has this.

"I need a belt for a small Grizzly lathe model G 5967. Grizzly no longer
carries any parts for the lathe. Its a 5 15/16 X 12 (150mmX300mm) lathe.
The belt I'm looking for would be 4mm wide and approx 430mm in length.
The grizzly tech guy said it was a V shape belt, but he had no more info."

It's a real bummer when these retailers sell items and then just discontinue parts for them. I have what would be the top of the line craftsman combination disk/belt sander and it has a part that broke. No parts available for it either. Oh well I guess we want cheap and they want maximum profit so keeping parts in production is not part of that business model that is for sure.

Thanks

Thanks for all of the in-put. BUT, this thing is a baby, they pulled it "before it was full growed" as my ol' papa would say. I measured the width of one piece & it is like .157".

I will post a pic after lunch..

Phillip; V-belts are usually metric. Common size for small lathes is 5M730 where 5 is the width of the belt in millimeters and 730 is the length in millimeters.

Like others have said, check local bearing and belt suppliers. Grainger, Tractor Supply
