What is it about being at the beach? I am spending this week at the beach with my extended family which ranges from teenagers to octogenarians, kids looking forward to high school and college, others looking forward to marriage, some contemplating the end of this life, and others busy making a living. Morning bicycle rides of 11 to 12 miles, bloody Mary's on the beach, naps, family dinners, 4th of July fireworks, aimlessly wandering around the beach picking up shells and petrified shark's teeth, afternoon thunderstorms, card games, no agendas, etc. Fortunately, my extended family gets along very well with no serious bickering and the kids interacting with their elders. Life is slow, peaceful, and healing. Wish everyone could be so blessed. Life is pretty darn good right now despite one sunburned foot.

I dated a girl some 30 years ago who collected shark's teeth.
She had 8 one gallon pickle jars full of them.

She had several Megaladon shark teeth she found also.
I made her a box lined with blue satin for one of her larger ones.

One was as big as a 2 lb. Porterhouse steak. :eek:
 
What a timely post..................I too enjoyed the read AND as fate would have it I have been asked to create a pen with a beach theme ...............SOOOOOOOOOO it seems to me you are in the right place to make some great suggestions for such a pen. :biggrin:

I remember that pen very well, it is awesome. I showed the guys the Harley Stamp blank pen you cast for me on this last road trip and it was a huge hit!
Considering that you have come to be known to cast anything that will stand still long enough for you to put it in resin, I can't wait to see what you come up with from this trip. Any day at the beach is a good day!

I'm still trying to figure out why those shark teeth were scared. :confused:

Oh, and when you're relaxing with one foot crossed over the other, only one foot gets sun. :biggrin:

I love living near the water. Many days, I fish as the sun is rising over the water. It's really not about the fish, just being there to watch Mother Nature do her thing. We have all the usual water birds here but also several large flocks of Monk Parrots (medium size green birds) they are a joy to listen to squawking in the morning.

I'm the opposite... not a fan of the beach... would rather be in the mountains or maybe the desert....
