I had no idea. That is a little spooky. I guess now I need to read the manual on the camera. Thanks for the info.

been possible and known since 2004

So many times do I see people rush out to get the latest, newest and best "product or service" only to not know much about them. I always think of the iPhone Xtranormal skit...I want a iPhone...LOL

and I didn't click the link, this is not even the first time I seen this very topic on a forum today...my guess it's now making the email rounds again

it is good for the word to get around

I've seen it going around a few times today in email and a few other sites. Including a US military released document for distribution to troops I think (not sure).

Along these same lines I'll take a quick op to make another similar PSA. If you have an office or business or the like with a big commercial copier. ... or even a small commercial copier beware. If you trade up/replace/repair/etc..... most office coppiers now days contain a hard drive that has a copy of everything you've ever coppied on it (ok, maybe not everything ....there are limits). If you for example lease a copier and after a year or two it gets replaced by the lease company there is a good chance your old copier will go to auction or refurbed and re-sold or whatever.... .with TONS of your very private documents still in taht drive.

The government has the ability to turn your phone on anywhere and to see what is happening through the lens on the phone.

Lee, if your phone is in a holster or your pocket or in ladies' case in their purse what can they see? Black stuff?
In this case shouldn't they be able to solve amny crimes that happen if someone used theri phone?

Phil, you're correct. But I see lots of people who leave them lying on the table.
Last week my wife's phone kept taking pictures of the inside of her purse.
No one was near it at the time. We could hear the shutter.

Could have been a gremlin.

And I WAS going to buy a new camera!!
And still might, we in Arkansas don't have to drag them in the window anymore.HA HA HA

Lee, I bet you they even know what color underwear we have nowaday, so pictures don't matter that much.
On the ohter hands, this feature can be helpful in locating lost people maybe? I am not sure where we are going with this? there is nothing private anymore. Oh,well, that's the price of living in the second decade of 21Th century, I guess.

You can turn off the GPS feature in most cameras and phones. My phone GPS is off all the time, I only enable it if I use it for driving directions. All I can say is read your instructions that come with your gear.

People read? HaH. I do some csr work from time to time for a buddy of mine that sells a software program. You can't even get people to watch a setup video anymore. Just us middle aged+ that have the patience for that anymore ;)
