Baron with a history

July 25th, 1956, the Italian oceanliner Andrea Doria was rammed by the Swedish liner Stockholm. It capsized and sank the next day.

This Baron is made from a section of Teak handrail from the Doria that was recovered from the wreck in July of 2004.

Great story, cool pen! Isn't the Andrea Doria the same boat that sank with George Clooney in the Perfect Storm? Must be an unlucky name for a boat!

That's very cool. Amazing to think that piece of wood was submerged in the ocean for nearly 50 years!

Wow, how was turning a peice of wood that was submerged for that long? Did it have to be stabilized?

I have some mixed feelings about this pen. While you did a nice job of making it, the wood is coming from a site that I have spent time diving and know that taking anything from the ship is frowned upon as it is a grave site.
