Baraboo WI area?

Anyone here from the Baraboo area? I am considering a job offer in Baraboo that would have my family and I moving there in early June. I have till Nov. 26th to make a decision. I am looking for any info on the area I can get and to make contacts in the event I accept the offer.

I live roughly two hours from Baraboo. It is a beautiful area (Devils Lake State park is right next door and is one of the best in the state.) Less than 45 minutes from Madison, the capitol. Lot's of tourists in the area due to also being near Wisconsin Dells a premier tourist trap. Any specific questions?

IF you're considering a job offer, check the state income tax and the property taxes in the area you plan to live.

Generally speaking, prop tax is high, but property value is not excessive (compared to Illinois, for example). Income tax rate is 7% and almost nothing is deductible. Make sure the job offer nets as much as you hope.

Also, if you have kids, check the quality of the school district. They vary widely in the state from pretty good to horrible. (Milwaukee has about a 30% daily truancy rate--gee, wonder why they don't learn much??)

I have been to Baraboo a few times as I have an uncle that lives just a couple miles from there. I have fished Devil's Lake a few times. It is loaded with trout. There are a lot of coyotes in the area. It is a nice place to visit in the summer, but the winters there are not for me.
