Anyone use a bar code and droid/IPhone to keep inventory of your pen kits?

Found an app in the droid market for inventory and found a online bar code generator to make a bar code to print out.

Wait, wait, I need to know about this.. :good:

I am using Penbox, Excel and Word to keep track of inventory. My inventory is being spread out AND changes. Every time a pen travels from one place to another it is a gigantic effort to track and make life difficult. Need ONE source.

The inventory program, looks pretty slick. I have been looking for something to convert all the databases from the old palm OS hand held device. That has some possibilities.

I believe that there are some barcode generators on the Android platform, that were available from the market. Of course with the number of apps it my take a while to locate it!

John.
Like you, i'm using Penbox and Excel. I picked up a barcode reader on eBay and make my own barcode labels in Excel.

It's working ok for me. As I load up my cased for shows, I scan in before the show, and scan out when I get home (use Excel to capture and manipulate)

I then update Pen Box. I do find that I have better knowledge of costing with Excel (massive workbook, with costing - shipping, customs, exchange rates, materials, labor, kits, etc.)

An application that would do all this in one, would be awesome though

I purchased the Inventory desk and desk scanner.
Here is a couple screen shots of the Inventory desk
First I created a bar code or QR code

scan the bar code the a window opens on your desk top to enter the info in

After creating the new line of info for the bar code. You can scan the bar code and change quantities automatically.

You also can add photos
You also can create different categories
I am still playing with it, one thing I wish it would let you paste instead of typing
It would be good if you could put a link to the kit suppliers website so you could click it and it will take you straight there to reorder.

But there may be away to do it but will play with it when I get more time.

Hanau:

This looks VERY good. I am going to play with it tomorrow since it looks like we are going to be snowed in.

Keep posting.
