I wanted to know what the proper bandsaw blades are for wood and plastic? I have been using whatever I could get my hands on. I cut polyester resin and wood blanks. Both about an inch thick. Its time to get the right ones. I figured here would be the best place to ask. Sales people are so clueless. Thanks everyone.

Too broad a question for one, simple, answer. What kinds of materials, how thick, how big is the bandsaw, what are your intentions, etc.? For most work under 1" thick on most home shop bandsaws, a 3/8" X 6 tpi should give (generally) satisfactory results. Contact Suffolk Machinery, the big sellers of Timberwolf blades. Their sales/support staff are very knowledgable and their web site is loaded with information. http://www.suffolkmachinery.com/

Keith,
I'm sure Frank's answer is smarter than mine, but I use the "el cheapo" Vermont blades from local box store... have good luck and no problems.. I only cut wood on the big saw.. I use a 3/8" (I think) 6 tpi on it... for acrylics, plastics and antler, I use my little Ryobi table top and I think it has a narrower, finer blade on it.
Someday soon I want to try the Timberwolf blades from Suffolk or I think my local Woodcraft store carries them.. have heard nothing but good comments about the blades.

Buy the blades direct from Suffolk. I compared against woodcraft prices and they are 5 to 10 per blade more, plus the sales team at Suffolk will make sure you get the correct blade for your application.
