I've been using a bandsaw blade as a rake for a long time but I've just been holding the piece of blade by hand. Yesterday I almost had an accident so I decided to come up with some sort of device to hold it.

It's just a piece of scrap oak with a .063" slot milled in it with a circular saw blade in my tablesaw. It's 13"x1 1/2"x 3/4" but that's just what's comfortable for me, YMMV. The blade opening is 3".

Excellent idea and great re-cycling of the BS blade.

CONGRATULATIONS on having your dust collector right there at the source. I bet it comes in handy when cleaning the buffing wheel of all that air born lint.

Rick, If and when the wheel ever grabs the rake out of your hand a suggestion comes to mind.....

I would cut the blade width down and mount it at the end of a stick similar to what you have. That way when the wheel tries to grab the rake, you will have lots more controp over the handle. Similar to holding a pen blank sideways or lengthways to the wheel, one way has a far greater chance of the wheel grabbing the blank out of your hands.

Nice tool Rick. Is this your way of showing off a new product?:biggrin: It does look like a handy aid for the buffer wheels. Thanks for showing us your great idea.
