So I stopped at Walmart this morning on my way into work. I picked up a sandwich for my wife & I to have for lunch. I get out to the car toss the bags in, go to put the key in the ignition and realize the other half of my keys are missing. Now this is on a detachable key chain I turned for her. The bad part is this is the replacement we got for her when the first one failed after 1 month. Mine for some reason has never failed using the same kit. So I look all over the car, outside on the ground, then go back into Walmart to trace my steps I took looking for the other end of the keys. Still nothing. I call my wife saying I might have to walk back to the office. I check in the car again, under the seat, in the trunk, on the floor, then looking in the armrest I see the other half sitting on the passenger side seat. I put them back together put the key in the ignition, and the other half falls off to the floor. I get back to the office and pickup the other half and the little ball bearing falls out of the detachable end. Then another piece that the ball bearing sits in falls off. So needless to say I am not using this kit any longer. The supplier isn't important, but this kit doesn't have a screw to tighten or anything like that to keep the balls in there. I still am puzzled why my key chain has never broke, but 2 out of 3 failing is reason enough for me to never sell this kit. So I almost went crazy this morning all because of something not made well enough it would appear. So now we are looking for something similar, but bought in a retail setting.

Thanks for reading through my story lol. Hope everyone else has a better start to their day.

MY wife has a habit of tossing her keys back into her work van when she gets home at night. THe van is kept in the garage. One day she tosed them in and it hit the lock button on the fob as she was closing the doors. Heh Heh locked them in. ITs a company vehicle so she could go get the spares from the office. Except its saturday and no ones at the office.

I made a key ring that's detachable on both ends. I use 2 of the toothpick key ring kits, then use the screw in ends from each kit. Then either side can be detached. And since they are screw on ends, they can't just fall off.

Bob, that is a great idea! Thanks. That would come in handy. I might just do that.
