Went out to the shop tonight to cut and glue up some blanks. Broke a bandsaw blade right off the bat, not a problem (or so I thought). Got out the new ones I got from the Home Depot.

And they were both so worthless that they couldn't cut a fart if they had to...

Moral here, buy the nicer bandsaw blades...

Sounds like a day I had a while back. I had some 3/4" thick Corian type material I thought would be good for pens. As soon as I touched it with my bandsaw blade sparks flew. I was a fairly new blade. Darn :frown:

Well don't feel like the lone ranger, Thursday Andrew put a brand new blade on our Metal saw, made about 30 cuts and it broke right at the weld, then yesterday he was cutting some Fossil Ivory and broke the blade on our little bench top 9 in bandsaw, I don't mind the 9 inch, but the blades for the metal saw are almost 50.00!!

I wish that I could buy a blade for my saw at Home depot. Our local store doesn't sell long ones. If I break one and don't have a spare, I'm out of commission for a while.

Same problem... I put a riser on my 14" Delta and neither HD or Lowes seems to carry the 105's.... I dropped a 6" log I was getting ready to cut the ends off of onto my BS table, it rolled into the blade and kinked it... last blade on hand, so I'm now waiting for the postman to bring some new ones later this week.

The only place around I can get my 72" x 1/2" raker for my Shopsmith is WC. They are about 20 mins from me but only have 1 at a time. I picked up a skip tooth last time so I had 2 and used it first. It lasted about 1/3 as long as the raker so another spin on the moral can be use the proper blade. I am still learning a lot but the Raker is my blade of choice for resawing.

LOL! My blades are 145" on my 18" Laguna. And they aren't cheap!! Always get at least two! Cost of doing business I figure.
:wink::wink::wink:

Well darn. I just the new saw on the band saw and now am afraid to start it up. Hopefully what is happening to you folks is not catching, I only ordered one.
