UPDATE: Now I'm waiting two more weeks. Emergency bumped me til New Years Eve. Get to spend my 50th birthday in the hospital.

I've been waiting about 4 months for the insurance company to quit jerking me around and finally have a date. The part that is gonna really stink about it is not being able to turn for a bit. I have one more to turn for Christmas. Family is bummed cause I can't travel to the get together.

Wednesday I go in for a 2 level fusion from L4 down to S1. :eek:The stress is driving me nuts though.

Please remember me in your prayers.

Good luck Tim. I will pray for you. I have had 6 shoulder operations within two years from my injury in the AirForce. I know surgery isnt fun. Please let us know how everything went.

You'll be in my prayers too. I kinda know what your family is going through, my wife goes in Friday for her third shoulder surgery.

Bummer that you had to wait so long. By now you could have been just about through with rehab. I had my back surgery a few years ago. For the first few months after, I was in more pain than ever. As the rehab continued and time marched on, things got better, mostly.

Whatever you do, don't try to macho through the pain. Take your pills before the pain gets too bad or you'll regret it.

Good luck and you and your family are in our prayers. I am looking at a similar surgery next spring (if I do not chicken out) 4 pins in my lower lumbar also, do not remember disc numbers.

Tim, I hope all goes well with you. I had back surgery this year and honestly....it sucked. I feel better now, but there is a great deal of pain right for a while after. Everyone keeps telling me it takes a couple of years to really get back to 100%, but I am so impatient....I want to feel 100% now! :-)

Best of luck to you man. You will be in my prayers. I had a ruptured disc at L5-S1, that's what they told me any who. That one was a piece of cake. Back in 1997 any who. May 20, 2006 they did a "decompressive cervical laminectomy" on C5 and C6. Fancy terms for removing the back half of 2 vertebra in my neck. Don't want to scare ya, but that was the most painful thing that I've ever been through. Two and a half years later I can finally look down long enough to do a little turning. I'm 6' 4" tall so it took some doin to get the lathe up high enough. If your lucky and heal right you'll do OK. Other wise you can join me and the others that have Morphine as our best friend.

I had a fusion done about 5 years ago. As Steve said, take your pain pills and follow your Dr. directions. I broke the eye screws that hold the titanium rods because I went back to work thinking I could still do it like I use too. Now I am in worse pain then ever before. Good luck and our prayers are with you.
