Not really a new member as I first joined in 2007 after I retired but took some time away to travel and had some health issues. Just got back to turning pens and it is all new to me again. Found I need a lot of practice.

Thank goodness for this site to bring me up to date.

Welcome back, neighbor.

We've got a local group that meets in person on occasion. Watch for announcements in the local chapters forum.

Welcome (back.) I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work.

I'm putting a few links in here for reference –
This link has postings by different pen turners on what they wish they had known earlier:
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46654

This link tells of some "out of the box" tools/aids for pen turners http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66178

This one is a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't. http://content.penturners.org/articl...9/Acronyms.pdf

Thanks Barry for the message about the local group meetings. Aslo got one from the Displaced Canadian that Mark is already planing the next meeting. I did see the posting about the meeting at Rockler, last Saturday and really wanted to go. Our grandson made the bantam hockey team and we needed to go to his game in Lynnwood. They play at Lynnwood on Saturdays for the next 3 weeks and he goes up to Canada every Wednesday. He is now 13 and lives in Lake Stevens. Perhaps Mark may know him or his parents. His mother coached the Lake Stevens high school girls fast pitch team for a couple of years and was named coach of the year by the Seattle Times in her first year. She gave up the coaching this year to have more time. Our son goes to just about every Lake Stevens home football game. I will ask them if they know Mark.
