Argg.

I got a few dollars to play with for a new tool, and am trying to decided wether to get a 6" used jointer or a bench top belt sander/disc sander.

I am leaning towards the sander, simply cause I can get a pretty decent edge cut on my ts now with the sled, and then use the sander to finsih off the pieces before glueup for segmenting..

Any thoughts? Anyone around n. ill have any tools they are looking to sell?

:)

They are expensive bause they got it, you want it, they know it.

I would go with the sander! I think there is alot more versatility, especially for turning, in the sander.

What is expensive? We ask $50 to $300, or more, for a pen.
Can you make a jointer for $50.00?
But, to answer your question. Go for the sander, you will get more use out of it than the jointer. Do look for used. I paid fifty CENTS for my sander and $50.00 for my great Delta jointer.

I use the 8" jointer as a dust collector and horizontal filing cabinet most of time. I use my belt sanders quite often. I have the ridgid oscilating sander a 4x36 belt 6 disc, and a 1in belt sander. I use the Ridgid the most.

always seek good used tools first. Then its not so expensive. Any tool guy typically takes good care of their tools. So the deals are everywhere.
