I recently purchased an apple TV. It isn't a tv just a gizmo that connects your tv to the internet and supposedly you itunes library. There is some glitch so it can't see my itunes library, but is still useful.

But netflix is on it and for a monthly fee of $7.95 I can watch movies and tv shows on my tv using the apple tv. I also put a netflix app on my ipad and now I can watch them on that as well.

I'm not a sports fan and get all my news from the internet and don't watch much tv, only to kill time. I've been working towards getting rid of by cable tv (savings about 70 per month). Now i can and replace it with something that is $7.95 per month and no commercials. Sweet!

I have an Apple TV as well. It's certainly no cable-replacement box, but it sure is cool!

I watch Netflix movies on it all the time, and I also use the Apple TV in conjunction with downloaded broadcasts of Top Gear (Hilarious British car show) that I get through bit torrent-based P2P sharing.

Have you "sent" a video on your iPad to your Apple TV yet? That's fun. I do it from both my laptop in iTunes and my iPhone 4.

I'm waiting for the iPad2 to be released in 4-6 weeks before I get one. I always buy Apple gear when it's in it's 2nd or 3rd generation, which is what I did with the Apple TV. Much better and half the price of the first gen.

I came :this: close to buying an Apple TV. Being that I use Macs a lot at work, and the ATV was only $99, I thought it would be a shoo in.

Then I started looking around. I found the ATV isn't all that great feature-wise unless you absolutely need access to your iTunes library (and I think what I bought may do that too).

I ordered one of these: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666291209

$149 and includes a BluRay player. Still streams Netflix, and Hulu's paid service, along with a bunch of other things.

That combined with my HTPC and I'm ready to drop cable TV altogether!

I have an apple tv and use it to stream movies from my mac all the time. The computer must be awake and itunes opened up before you can connect. You also must enable your apple tv to view your movies through your itunes account. Once set up it is a breeze to use. Apple's tech support is second to none. Give them a call and they will have you up and running in no time.
