I am inquiring as to the use of the simple Dust Deputy in home shops and in-line with a vacuum source. I'm not asking about any of the other fine systems from Oneida as they are way bigger than most of us would need to use, not to mention expensive.
This is the unit in question ... http://store.oneida-air.com/dust-deputy-diy.aspx with my inquiry here.
I have an idea about using this particular unit along with a 30 gallon PVC barrel I have around here someplace. The vacuum source will be my Rigid Shop vacuum. Before anyone starts up about inadequate vacuum power, this will be in use along side and in addition to the main 4" system.
The pick-up site will primarily be right at the tip of the cutting tool so the dust is collected at the source as it is being generated. A broader, rectangular tip will be used when sanding. My prototype has worked amazing well and I believe this Dust Deputy will now improve the vacuum as the filter itself will function much better between cleanings. Not to mention that the entire setup will not need to be cleaned as often ... hopefully I will enjoy far better than 80-90% less time cleaning the filter itself.
Any ideas floating around with you good folks with experience using this unit will make for interesting reading and would be appreciated.
