Anyone tried ebonite from NIKKO EBONITE MFG.CO.,LTD.?

I'm looking at their website and they offer 20mmx1000mm ebonite rods for $22. That beats about anything I can find elsewhere by a wide margin.

I have played with it. They won't sell any of their coloured stuff though. Just the black. Mine was brought to me by Chris when he came over from Japan last summer so I don't know how the shipping from Nikko goes.

I have tried the rods from ebay selling from India by rangahandmadepens and they are good. He has 5 different colors and usually sells they in lots of 7 or 10 but you choose how many of what color you want.

I have been in contact with them, they are NOT the best at getting back to you. I tried to make an order 2 months ago and I am still waiting on then invoice. I email them and they respond with..we will be with you soon...so at this point if they are that slow taking my money I can just imagine how long it would be for me to recieve my order.

The people on a pipemakers forum has mixed reviews on it. A little softer than the German ebonite, but usable for pipe stems. Here is an email address listed and they return the info in English. Mr. Tomohisa Endo info@nikkoebonite.com

Thanks for sharing - I knew someone would have experience with this supplier. I looked at SEM - they have such beautiful ebonite colors and patterns, but their prices are more than triple the Nikko prices.

I did get a response from Nikko. Their unpolished 20mm rod it less than $16 per meter. The colored stuff in available in 25mm rods at $95, waiting for answer as to which colors are available.

Does anyone know what the MOQ is for these rods and can they colors be matched to meet the MOQ?
