I am leaving Texas bright and early Saturday morning 7/12/14 and heading to Gatlinburg, TN to Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts to help teach an advanced penturning class. I am flying in to Johnson City, TN around 1:45 pm. I then have a rental car and am going to make the drive down to Gatlinburg. I don't have to be in Gatlinburg at any special time on Saturday so I was hoping that possibly, there would be someone along the general route that would be up for a short visit!

Anytime I travel anywhere and expect to have a little free time, I like to try to look up and meet up with fellow turners. I don't mind driving as much as an hour or two out of my way so if you are anywhere near my general intended route and would be willing to let have a shop visitor for a short visit, please let me know! I know it is short notice and all but thought I would throw it out there.

I will also have some free time on Friday, 7/18 and possibly Saturday, 7/19 if one of those days work better. My flight does not leave TN until 4:30 or so Saturday. Also, if you are in the immediate Gatlinburg area and have some free time in the evening, I would love to possibly arrange a visit!

I know this may sound weird to some but that is how I do things! No one is a stranger to me and I love meeting and visiting with new folks. On one trip to New England, I was able to visit 11 different IAP members!

So, if you are up to it, please send me an e-mail to mobile at turntex.com or call me at 512-738-0775!

My wife is ill today (bad vertigo), but I would have loved to meet you at my place. I'm about 25 north of Atlanta. Safe travels.

I'm up for a meeting if you get to Gatlinburg in time. Did you know "shine" is legal in TN. The caramel or Apple is yummy..As is the lemonade or one of the other 5 flavors.

Don that's not cool, making me really jealous, that's too much fun haha.

Curtis if you have extra time go to Cades Cove, 30-40 minutes from Gatlinburg, peaceful and tons of wildlife, go early or later to avoid the crowd.

Also the historic site I asked my bride to be my bride

Have a great week, it sounds incredible, when the kids get older I would love to go to a class like this.

Dang! We just left Johnson City the day before yesterday. Already in Iowa now! Would have been cool though!

Scott.

Curtis,
I'm only a couple hours south of G'burg, but I'm going to be tied up all week and into the weekend... would have loved to have you come by and bring me up to date on Texas... haven't been home but once since I retired here in 2005.
