Anyone know anything about car audio?

I need serious help with my jeep. I have a jeep grand cherokee 1996. It had the infinity system with factory amplifier and cd changer. I am trying to install a new head unit (sony) but I cant figure out how to bypass the factory amplifier...

Anyone know about this?

I'm not sure about a Cherokee but, if it's like the amp in my wifes truck, the speaker connections are off the amp not the head unit. If it has speaker wires at the head unit, just hook those to the new head unit and leave the amp wires off.

IIRC the infinity system is built in unless it has midbass speakers in the door. Then there is an amp built into each speaker. That is fairly easy to bypass by disconnecting (cutting) the audio leads to the speaker from the amp (close to the amp) and wiring them directly to the head unit. This may require extra speaker wire.
